Use calculation sheets to keep track of Design notes and sketches.

During the design process of any project, many sketches, calculations, and notes are recorded as information is gathered.  All of this information will only be useful if we can find it when we need it.  A page full of calculations means nothing if it is just a bunch of numbers.

For this reason Engineering firms use Calculation Sheets to record preliminary information.  At the top of the calculation sheet is a section to record the date, name of the person doing the sketch, project name and number, and the subject of the sketch or calculation.  This information must be filled in before even commencing the sketch.  After the sketch or calculation is complete, it is usually stored in a Project Binder.

You will notice that the calculation sheet has a grid on it to facilitate sketching and notes.  Use a grid background for any sketches or calculations  performed in the course.
