B13    Apply Nomenclature

Information Sheet

1.  Define nomenclature
Nomenclature is defined in the dictionary as
" a system or set of terms or symbols especially in a particular science, discipline, or art"

In drafting applications it is usually referred to as "notes" and "symbols"

The nomenclature that is required is different for each discipline (see A2-1 Information for disciplines)

PLEASE NOTE:
Letter heights for ALL projects will be as follows:

Notes and dimensions:
1/8" or 3 mm (text STYLE will be N1)

Titles:
3/16" or 5 mm (text STYLE will be N2)

Unless noted otherwise (we do use text STYLE

4.  Notes on a drawing

A general note applies to the entire part, and a specific note applies to an individual feature.  Occasionally a note may save drawing an additional view.

General notes do not require the use of a leader and should be grouped together, usually in the title block where there is a space for "General Notes".

Specific notes almost always require a leader and should therefore be placed close to the feature.  If there is more than one dimension leader for an object view, keep the text lined up vertically.
