Identify
Imperial sheet sizes
See textbook pages
83-85
All Imperial drawing sizes are multiples of the standard 8-1/2
x 11 sheet of paper. This ensures that when a drawing is folded
down it will always fold down into the standard sheet size, and fit easily
into a
9 x 12 envelope.

Drawing numbers generally start with the sheet size.
For example:
Dwg. No. B-206-1257 would
be on an
11 x 17 sheet.
Using the sheet size as part of the Drawing Number can help to locate
a drawing in a busy office because it indicates how big the drawing is. A-size
and B-size drawings are usually
kept in filing cabinets. C-size
drawings and larger are usually kept in large drawing drawers or drawing
hangers.
